So much anguish comes from focusing on the past, reliving emotionally distressing events, wondering what could have been, concentrating on things that no amount of regret can change.
So much wasted anxiety comes from anticipating the future – ruminating over things unknown that no amount of worry can alter.
Years are lost in a lifetime’s worth of waiting for the weekend and days spent merely getting by…and in the meantime, life is happening all around you, every passing minute, and it’s here to be lived.
You can’t change what happened yesterday, you can’t foresee what tomorrow will bring, but today is of your making, and true happiness lies simply in what you have right now.
